Today’s featured barndo is a beautiful modern farmhouse style Colorado barndominium designed by Garrett and Erica Bartelmie in Colorado. Following their dream, they have been working on this barndo for over a year and are just about ready to move in. We love the dedication and attention to detail that the Bartelmies put into this home and it really shows in the final product.
The Bartelmies built the metal post frame shop first so they could have a structure to live in while they worked on the home. As you can see, they lived in a camper under the shade of the main structure. This is an incredibly clever way to use what they have built so far as a home while they started building out the rest of the exterior.
Exterior
As you can see, this Colorado barndominium has a lot going for it. The 40×50 shop section makes up a big portion of the home and leaves a lot of room for work without taking up a large amount of space in the living section floor plan. We love how this separate space is worked into the layout of the home and makes it look incredibly grand against the backdrop of the Colorado sky.
This Colorado barndominium is on a lot of land and that makes it cut such a beautifully striking profile. The grandeur of the large shop and the attached farmhouse-style living area is a classic nod to the traditional farm homes of the United States. It’s obvious that a lot of thought was put into the exterior of this barndominium.
Interior
Even though the exterior is incredibly beautiful, the interior is even more impressive. All throughout this barndominium in Colorado, there are well executed design touches and elements that really make it pop. There is a lot to enjoy and the Bartelmies have done a great job tying everything together for a traditional, yet contemporary, feel.
The kitchen alone is worth taking a second look at as soon as you walk in the house. There are so many beautiful textures everywhere throughout the large space and they all work together incredibly well. From the granite countertops to the white subway tile backsplashes, everything is meant to complement everything else in a way that elevates the whole room
One of the things that we think this Colorado barndominium does incredibly well is coordination. There is not a lot of contrast and instead the designers have really tried to make everything fit tastefully and effortlessly. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the stainless steel appliances that sit against the white cabinetry. They scream modern design without being out of place or clashing with the rest of the decor.
The breakfast bar island is a great touch that shows this home was meant to be lived in above all else. With room for three seats, it is clear that the Bartelmies plan to use this kitchen a lot and have designed it to be as functional as possible. The beautifully designed wire light fixtures also offer a touch of designer class to the usable space and are a great detail that we just love.
The utility and laundry room in this Colorado barndominium is roomy and functional just like the rest of the house. We love the sliding barn door that keeps it hidden from the living area but also adds a touch of design instead of just another door. Not only that, it is a clever nod to the farmhouse base that this design is rooted in.
The spacious master bedroom features enough windows to let in some of the beautiful Colorado natural light. It also has some double doors that lead to the exterior and can be opened for a nice connection to the outdoors. Seeing the piece of land that this home is located on, it’s no surprise the Bartelmies wanted to have that option.
The careful design of the kitchen continues on in the bathroom and once again we have elements that feed into and support each other as opposed to clashing. This is not to say that the colors and patterns aren’t bold, though, by any means. In fact, the marble pattern of the shower and the black fixtures add that modern touch that is perfect for any contemporary home.
The double vanities lit by more of those black light fixtures are a crucial element for any family home. We love the touches of black in both the plumbing and cabinetry hardware. On top of that, the granite sink blends in nicely with the white motif that carries through this entire Colorado barndominium.
Conclusion
It took the Bartelmies just about a year to get this Colorado barndominium to the point where it is at today and they are ready to move in. With such beautiful and thorough attention to detail, there isn’t one thing out of place or clashing in the entire home. We think that they did a great job putting the whole home together and that they will be able to enjoy it for many years to come!
