Today’s featured home on Barndominium Life is the outstanding Kentucky barndominium sent over by Ashlie Holgan in Leitchfield. This home is the picture of simplicity and class and really shows just what can be done with a barndominium if you consider all the design possibilities and have the right kind of ideas. This is an incredibly tasteful barndo and we love how it has all come together to create a simple, family friendly home in a very neat package.

Exterior
One of the first things you might notice about this Kentucky barndominium is the surrounding landscape. All that beautiful greenery and beautifully manicured space adds so much to this amazing barndominium and really helps it become something that is both rural and modern at the same time. The color scheme of this barndo fits in nicely with the green and ends up looking homey and comfortable nestled there among the rest of the landscape. Plus, we love the way it is set on the lot as a slight angle that allows you to see everything in one look.
One of the things that makes the exterior of this Kentucky barndominium special is the outbuildings that are on the property as well. The detached garage that sits at the end of the driveway is a great space saving feature that doesn’t take up room on the concrete slab of the barndominium itself but still offers enough storage space for cars, off-road vehicles or lawn care tools like ride-on lawnmowers. We love how rustic the barn looks as well and how it is quite clearly a reclaimed and restored original building on the property that has been left for a sense of familiarity and a nod to the original use.
Interior
Living Area
Outside, this Kentucky barndominium looks beautiful but on the inside it is just as tastefully appointed and designed. The interior features an amazing hardwood floor that feels rich and inviting and the angles of the roofline are reflected back in the ceiling so the designers were able to get as much headroom as possible in this barndo. We love the different small design details like the molding that goes all the way to the top of the door. This creates a nice, cohesive flow that is perfect for a space like this.
The open concept floor plan of this Kentucky barndominium is another amazing element that is perfectly suited for almost any kind of lifestyle. While the open concept home is becoming more and more popular, there is a good reason for that. It allows you to keep an eye on things in the living room while working in the kitchen and participate in gatherings and parties even if you have to be cooking. Plus, it eliminates any feeling of being cut off from the other people in the home and can help create a nice feel for everyone.
We love the dedicated dining area in this Kentucky barndominium. Having this space separate from the kitchen and being able to actually sit down to a relaxing meal is a crucial part of being comfortable in your home. Plus, the fantastic antique chandelier light fixture is a great touch that can allow you to dim the lights and have a perfect vibe for a dinner or gathering around the table.
Kitchen
The kitchen itself in this Kentucky barndominium is absolutely the centerpiece. There is so much fantastic storage and all of the appliances are perfectly suited for the space they are in. This is one of the key things that makes a kitchen convenient and well-designed. Having access to everything at arm’s length can make a kitchen easy to work in and enjoyable to be in.
We love the island and the trim molding that surrounds it. Plus, that massive refrigerator in stainless steel is perfect for hosting parties and having enough storage to feed a hungry family. While there are no stools at the island now, it could make a perfect breakfast bar should the need arise.
Bedrooms
The bedrooms in this Kentucky barndominium are so comfortable looking and incredibly elegant. There is more of that wonderful hardwood floor and all the colors match with the exterior color scheme as well, giving the home a cohesive and put-together look. This is so important to make any home feel like it is well thought out and designed with color and comfort in mind. Not to mention the myriad of windows to let in natural light.
Bathroom
The bathroom is tastefully appointed just like the rest of this Kentucky barndominium. We love the change of flooring from the hardwood to the stone tile. This creates a nice sense of separation and delineates the bathroom from the rest of the home. The vanity has an amazing granite countertop as well as some brushed steel hardware for a modern but comfortable look and feel.
