Georgia Barndominium Full of Indoor Sports Rooms

Buying a new home can feel out of reach these days. Prices are soaring. It’s a struggle to save for a down payment or qualify for a mortgage. Wages just haven’t been able to keep up with housing costs.

But the American dream doesn’t have to stop there. Alternative homes exist, and one of the most exciting options is the barndominium. The barndo is a modern take on the charm and structure of a barn. It’s much more affordable than a traditional home. You get more value for your money because it’s spacious, too. Plus, it’s fully customizable.

That’s why more and more aspiring homeowners are jumping into the barndominium trend – to create their dream homes without breaking the bank.

Building a barndominium in Georgia is a smart choice. The Peach State is known for its scenic beauty, mild weather, and welcoming communities. It’s the ideal place to settle down. Combined with a barndo, you get the flexibility to make that modern rural life come true.

We’re excited to show you this Georgia barndominium that really shows that the barndo concept has already gone so far. It’s a stylish home that’s full of possibilities. See how a barndominium could work for you!

Overview

This Georgia barndominium is by Jason Carruthers. It’s a stunning home that sits on an incredible 5.5-acre agricultural property. The home has 5,000 square feet of living space – and this includes two half baths, a first-floor master suite, and three more bedrooms. Each of these rooms has its own bathroom upstairs.

Back in 2021, Karla introduced the idea of building a barndominium. Jason agreed – but on the condition that they truly make it special. They decided to add multiple bonus rooms and indoor sports spaces to really make it their own.

Jason took on the role of General Contractor. He handled much of the build himself with the help of his friends and family. It was a true family effort. Even their teenage sons contributed to the project.

They were finally able to move into their dream barndo this May 2023. Choosing a barndo exceeded all their expectations, and the hard work was well worth it.

Exterior

This Georgia barndominium stands tall at 54 x 92 feet. It’s constructed with 22-foot side walls and a 30-foot center. This gives the home a grand exterior. The charcoal gray barndominium siding looks sleek.

At the front, you’ll see a large gable roof porch that welcomes you. It’s a warm and inviting way to receive guests and family. The double doors are paired with large windows for some added elegance and charm. Each outside door even has its own pent roof – a detail that gives the home extra character and practicality.

The tongue and groove detailing under the porches and roofs add a handcrafted touch to the design. This attention to detail is what gives the exterior a unique feel that’s homey but also quite refined.

Out back, there’s a spacious covered porch that’s perfect for enjoying Georgia’s beautiful weather, rain or shine. Relax with a cup of coffee or throw a party; it’s all possible here. There’s a convenient asphalt driveway and parking area on the side. The property also has a separate covered two-car garage.

This Georgia barndominium is a blend of modern features and classic touches – just right for a home that caters to the whole family.

Interior

The interior of this Georgia barndominium is built with space in mind. The bright all-white look contrasts quite well with the gray exterior. This is combined with thoughtful wood accents.

Living Space

As you enter, you’re greeted by tall, double-height ceilings. This creates a grand and open feel. The living area is really inviting. An electric fireplace adds a cozy touch, and the plush L-shaped seating ensures that there’s plenty of room for everyone.

The open-plan layout enhances the flow between the living room, kitchen, and dining areas. A main staircase leads to a small indoor balcony. This overlooks the grandness of the living space.

Kitchen & Dining

The barndominium kitchen is a focal point of the home. It features a large 4×15-foot island with 14 stools. This island faces the living space, so you can enjoy TV and conversations while cooking.

Behind the island, the kitchen boasts white cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and glass pendant lights. The dining area is just adjacent, with a table that complements the kitchen’s design.

Bedrooms

The bedrooms are designed for comfort and practicality. Each of the teenage boys has their own minimalist room. The rooms reflect their personal style. There’s additional bedding for a guest – sleepovers made easy. Each bedroom includes a spacious closet for storage.

Bathrooms

Meanwhile, the bathrooms are both chic and functional. The main bathroom has a double vanity, a dedicated shower area with a bench, and a separate toilet room. This design makes it convenient for multiple people. Additional bathrooms follow a modern style with neutral colors. They’re equipped with sleek fixtures and a clean look that fits the home’s overall aesthetic.

Entryways/Utility Rooms

This Georgia barndominium has multiple entryways and utility rooms. The laundry room is conveniently located and equipped with ample storage space. Various entryways lead to different parts of the home for easy access and flow. These functional areas support the home’s busy lifestyle.

Gym with Loft

This barndominium gym is really impressive. The half-court basketball gym is great for exercising and having fun with the whole family. There’s a spiral staircase that leads to a loft that overlooks the gym.

The loft itself is a great spot for watching games and relaxing. The gym also includes a wall water dispenser – a way to stay hydrated on the go.

Bonus Rooms

The home features several bonus rooms, and each of these is a standout feature of the home. It’s such a unique concept because each hobby has been dedicated to its own space. This just shows how much more flexible a barndo can be compared to the standard home.

There’s a dedicated ping pong room for friendly matches. A game room with comfy seating is a great spot for video games. The soundproof home office provides a quiet space for work or study. These bonus rooms enhance the home’s versatility and cater to every family member’s interests.

Garage

Aside from the outdoor parking, an indoor garage helps keep your stuff and vehicles organized. This garage has enough space to fit two cars. A barndominium garage can also serve as a workshop or hobby area. It’s a way to stay organized so that everything from tools to everyday items is stored neatly.

Attic

The attic is located on the third floor and serves multiple purposes. It houses the HVAC system to keep it out of sight. The attic also offers even more ample storage space. These storage spaces keep the rest of the home completely clutter-free.
