Exterior
The lush greenery on one side and the sprawling valley on the other make it the perfect location for a farmhouse. This beautiful house is built with mud-colored bricks and hues of nature that allows it to blend in nicely with the surrounding environment. Large windows placed strategically throughout the house ensures there is an ample amount of natural light streaming through. There is even an old-fashioned brick-layout chimney that adorns the front of the house.
Perhaps one of the most breathtaking features of the Boyd Texas Farm House is the rolling fields that surround the house. There is also a dormer window or a roof window located high up in the loft area to allow the Texan sun to stream through each and every corner of the house.
The brick chimney matches beautifully with the colors of the surrounding landscape and adds a rustic feel to the entire house.
Back of the House
Towards the back of the house, there is an ample amount of space to park the kids’ bicycles and other knick-knacks. A cupboard is also strategically placed here for keeping shoes, gardening tools, and anything else you may be needing.
The garage door opens up to a large and spacious empty space that can either be used for your car, or many prefer to turn it into a storage and workshop area.
Boyd Texas Farm House Interior
The interior of the house is done up in white and earthen browns. White marble countertops in the kitchen contrast well with the black fittings. The spacious cupboards are a contrasting white and brown to give a splash of earth colors to the kitchen. The open kitchen concept works well in maintaining the spaciousness and uncluttered look of the house. A central dining table is placed inside the kitchen itself, to allow for cozy family dinners and breakfast.
The big windows allow plenty of natural light to stream into the kitchen. Polished wooden floors are a great offset to the sparkling white ceiling and walls.
An open closet done up in wooden panels adds to the charm of the house.
Moving on from the kitchen, the living room covers a massive area with the brick-laid fireplace adding to the beauty of the house. Centralized air conditioning systems keep the house cool in the summers, while large windows and a cozy fireplace ensure warmth during the winter months.
Connected to the living room is a smaller separate lobby area to ensure there is privacy when one enters through the main door.
In spite of having an old-world feel to the property, the bedrooms are done up with a modern and minimalist touch. Earthy browns and serene whites with grey carpeting make for a soothing atmosphere in the rooms of the house.
The bathrooms follow the same look and style of the entire house, with a white theme. The sprawling bathtub gives you a beautiful view of the outside fields. Marble countertops and flooring lend an elegance not seen in most farmhouses.
The Boyd Texas Farm House is the perfect example of a Barndominium that retains its beautiful old-world charm, yet has all the modern amenities a family requires. For more ideas and tips on how to do up your own Barndominium, check out the eBook, “Build Your Dream Barndominium” by Don Howe.
