Oklahoma City Barndominium – Built by L&C Metal Buildings

Introduction

This 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom Oklahoma City Barndominium was built by L&C Metal Buildings with a floor plan designed by Chad Tittle out of Rocky, OK. With custom touches and a personalized look, this Oklahoma barndominium is beautifully executed. It sits starkly against the Oklahoma plains, but inside it has a cozy, lived in appeal.

Front

The exterior shell of this Oklahoma City Barndominium was heavily inspired by a Pinterest post and built to those specifications by L&C Metal Buildings. The 800 square foot garage is a huge amount of space for all kinds of vehicles, equipment and storage. 

The white metal siding is perfect for this kind of climate and terrain. We love how the corrugated metal gives this Oklahoma City Barndominium a look that is both functional and fashionable. Easy to clean and maintain, it is a great material for mixing the look of a barn with that of a modern home. 

The bright color scheme of this Oklahoma City Barndominium makes it look as beautiful as it can be against the purple and orange Oklahoma sunsets. We think the white is as striking as it is practical. The metal siding is also durable and able to withstand any weather or winds it may encounter on the plains. 

Back

One of the most unique things about this Oklahoma City Barndominium is the many outdoor spaces. The upstairs back porch was originally supposed to be a later addition, but the owners decided to add it right off the bat. We think they made the right decision as it adds even more usable outdoor space. 

The upstairs back porch also has the added benefit of giving the barndo a covered, 180 degree ground-level porch. This is just one of the clever design elements implemented that serve multiple functions and look great as well. 

We also love that this Oklahoma City Barndominium has soft, yellow lighting along the edge of the ground-floor. This lighting helps the home cut an inviting, cozy profile that just begs to be lived in. These softer touches are what makes this house more than just a converted barn. It is an incredibly well-loved and well-designed home. 

Oklahoma City Barndominium Interior 

After L&C Metal Buildings built this Oklahoma City Bardominium’s shell, the walls were framed up with 2×6’s. The large living space and kitchen take up the bottom floor while the bedrooms are upstairs. This allows for a nice open floor plan that makes the most out of the roughly 2,800 square feet of the home. 

Since the home only has one set of stairs leading to the second floor, the owners wanted an emergency exit. They found it in this spiral staircase kit that leads from the upstairs into a safe room on the first floor.  This is just another wonderful example of the unique blend between practical application and sharp style in this Oklahoma City Barndominium. 

The main staircase features a top rail reinforced for safety. It consists of a metal strap and welded rebar that holds the railing and stairs together. For any family in a two-story home, safety features like this are key. We love how this home has managed to find a balance between that safety and a contemporary style.

A wood-burning stove in the living room tops off the country style additions that help this Oklahoma City Barndominium strike such a delicate balance.  A wood-burning stove like this is a perfect touch that will immediately make any space feel more cozy. 

Kitchen

The kitchen in this Oklahoma City Barndominium rests toward the back of the house but stays open to the living space up front. This is a fantastic use of the space that is available and works wonders to open up a room that might otherwise feel crowded. We love open floor plans and this one is especially effective.

Bathrooms

The bathrooms in this barndo are the epitome of style and luxury. The master bathroom features a propane fireplace facing out to the bathtub. Much like other features in this home, this is meant to feel comforting and look stylish at the same time.

The dark wood cabinets are another country home-style detail that tie the interior design together. Generally, darker colors should be lower in a home. However, with the homey feel of the rest of the house, we think the dark cabinets are a beautiful touch. 

Laundry Room

This Oklahoma City barndominium features a laundry room towards the back of the house. Keeping this room separate from the rest of the living spaces is a good idea for any home in a rustic setting. This feature helps stave off dirt, mud and dust that might make its way into the house.

Conclusion

Being able to see how this Oklahoma City barndominium was constructed and designed is a wonderful opportunity. We love the custom features and tasteful design. Even though it is simple, it works well and makes the best possible use of the space.
