Straight from Northwest Arkansas is this stunning Arkansas shouse with amazing outdoor spaces, cozy living quarters and some fun architectural elements throughout. The owner, Cody Long, explains that his family built their shouse to live in during the building of their home, and they enjoyed their time in the shouse. One great thing about this arrangement, boasts this shouse owner, is that now they have a fully functioning guest house on their property whenever they may need it. What a great idea!

Arkansas Shouse
The structure of this shouse is 40’x60′ with 14′ wall heights and a 60′ lean-to on one side for the storage of their RV. The exterior neutrals blend with the greenery around the building, and make the dark grey skirt around the bottom half of the structure is a nice feature. The all-glass paneled garage door gives a high end flare to this exterior.
Arkansas Shouse: Kitchen and Living Area
Inside of the guest shouse is 800 square feet of living space where there is a kitchen, living area, two bedrooms areas, and a bathroom. The living area is “L” shaped, and has ample space for couches and other seating options. Open shelving and baskets give extra storage options. Tucked away in the corner is a king-sized bedroom area that is open to the living space, giving the feeling of a studio apartment.
Also open to the living room is the kitchen area where you can find all white cabinetry and more open shelving. A kitchen island/bar area gives space for extra seating, while there is also room for a small table and chairs. This kitchen is fully loaded with a complete appliance package as well. Although this space isn’t the largest, the tall ceilings open up the rooms and make them look twice their size! Bold furniture choices also give this getaway a fun and inviting appeal.
Arkansas Shouse: Bedrooms and Bathroom
Directly off the living area is an area with a king bed, ceiling fan, and mounted TV. Not far from this area is the bathroom with a double vanity and unique lighting fixtures. There is also a cozy, second bedroom which offers more privacy. The open shelving is perfect for guests to store their clothes and items without having a dedicated closet space that isn’t typically necessary in a guest home. This shouse would be the perfect getaway for friends and family!
Arkansas Shouse: Screened Porch
This amazing screened-in porch area is an element that we rarely see in shouses, but we are loving it! This would be the perfect place for gatherings outside without having to worry about the bugs! The furnishings offer lots of places to relax and a dining area as well. With fans, great lighting, and a mounted TV, this space is ready for a party!
