Exterior
The exterior of Keen’s barndominium in Whitesboro, Texas boasts a modern feel with light siding accented by black trimmings. The cast-iron style pillars and exposed beams give an industrial meets country vibe. The large sliding doors and plenty of windows allow tons of natural light to stream in while the spacious patio area can be transformed into anything from an outdoor dining room to a cozy outdoor living room.
We can see around the side of the house that there are plenty of windows all over and that the minimalistic theme extends to the garden as well. We can also appreciate just how big the outdoor patio space is and with the many days of near-perfect weather found in Texas, can easily act as an extension of the barndominium.
Interior
Indoors, the true uniqueness of Keen’s Whitesboro, Texas barndominium is showcased. From open stairs to exposed brick and even exposed ductwork, the industrial feel continues. Skyhigh ceilings make the space look open and bright, and mimic the style of a downtown converted loft – without all the noise and traffic!
Concrete flooring adds a modern feel, whereas the exposed brick wall gives the space a ton of character and charm.
Creating a dramatic focal point, the stairway is not for the faint of heart. Fully open, the Whitesboro, Texas barndominium is the perfect place for trendy, out-of-the-box, anything but cookie-cutter house-hunters.
While load-bearing walls are a necessary part of any two-story home, this luxurious barndominium ensures sight lines are not interrupted by adding a large window. Opting for black trim, the window blends in perfectly with the staircase.
The kitchen’s decor and layout stay true to the minimalistic tone of the barndominium. As to not be overbearing with tons of cabinetry, Keen’s Whitesboro, Texas barndominium opted for open floating shelves instead. Trendy black matte appliances pop against the light natural wood of the cabinetry all while tieing in the fixtures such as the faucet and pot filler. A black beam running horizontally breaks up the wall providing some separation and character to the otherwise blank wall.
A closer look at the stairs shows off the continuity in design and decor as the light wood and black paint contrast nicely against the brick wall.

The drama in this master ensuite has been reserved for the stunning shower area. Featuring dual waterfall-style shower heads, a window, and plenty of beautiful tile work, this is one area in Keen’s barndominium that broke away from the less-is-more design mentality.
